“I’m not just a Church Member…I’m a DISCIPLE of CHRIST.”
This is the theme for the youth and young adults in the Greater New York Conference for the year 2008, but in reality this should be our personal theme for life. A disciple of Christ is someone who has the same priorities Christ has. The main priority of Jesus as He came to this earth was to save those who were lost.
How can I be a DISCIPLE? Matthew 28:19, 20 is known as the Great Commission, it was given by Jesus to his disciples before He ascended to heaven: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” How do you make a disciple? (1) “…baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” (2) “…and teaching them…” (3) “… to obey everything I have commanded you…” (4) “…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Accepting Jesus through Baptism, learning His teachings, not our traditions, but His teachings, obedience to His commandments, and the assurance of His daily presence in our lives till He comes are the key ingredients for a disciple. It is important to know that He does not expect us to do this alone, it would be impossible. This is why He assures you and me that He is with us till the end.

There has been a change in the calendar of our Conference; the United Campmeeting date is September 13, 2008. We would like to invite each church in the Greater New York Conference, each teen, each young adult, each Pathfinder, Adventurer, and Master Guide, in Full Class A Uniform, to attend United Campmeeting. On this day, we will be opening our new building, the Youth and Young Adult Inflatable Dome, with a huge capacity (170-180 ft length to 120 ft width) and a lot more safety than the youth tents we’ve had in the past. God has blest us so much and given us the growth to go from the Senior Youth Building with capacity for 400, through 3 different tents with increasing capacity each time, to an Inflatable Dome with capacity for thousands. He has given our Conference the vision to purchase this new building for the young people, therefore we must come together on this day to celebrate.

The Adventist Youth Ministries Department, together with the Adventist Youth Coordinators, and the youth and young adults of the Bronx is thrilled to announce some of the Youth Evangelism Initiatives that begin this weekend in the Bronx. There will be two Weeks of Youth Evangelism in the Bronx from August 16 to August 30, 2008, under the theme “JUST DO IT…with just one decision you can change your life.”

The Adventist Youth Emergency Services Corps (AYES Corps) Curriculum prepares the individual to serve God, the Seventh-dayAdventistChurch, and the Community voluntarily in moments of crisis and emergencies. These emergencies may take place in our neighborhood, city, state, country, or world. The AYES Corps will be prepared to be first responders under the Directions of the supervision and combined leadership of Adventist Community Services and the Adventist Youth Ministries Department of the Greater New York Conference of the Seventh-dayAdventistChurch.

El Currículo del Cuerpo de Servicio de Emergencia Juvenil Adventista (AYES Corp/Cuerpo SEJA) prepara al individuo para servir a Dios, la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día, y la Comunidad voluntariamente, en los momentos de crisis y situaciones de emergencias. Estas situaciones de emergencias pueden tomar lugar en nuestro barrio, ciudad, estado, país, o el mundo. El Cuerpo de SEJA estará preparado para ser de los primeros en responder bajo las Direcciones y la supervisión del liderazgo Combinado de Servicios Adventistas a la Comunidad y el Departamento de Ministerios de Jóvenes Adventistas Asociación de Greater New York de los Adventistas del Séptimo Día.

Small Groups Launching (Local churches): Our Evangelism Strategy for this year suggests that each church created a Small Group for Teens and a separate Small Group for Young Adults. Churches have already launched their Small Groups during the month of February, others had launched it before, and there are some which will begin in the upcoming weeks.
