On Friday, April 21, 2006, Brooklyn's Top Secret Drum Corps (T.S.D.C.), from the Greater New York Conference (G.N.Y.C.), won third place at the National Pathfinder Drum Corps Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. The team endured a 15-hour bus ride, equipment damage, and the absence of one of their players, due to illness, to participate in the event.
The team has only been performing together for the past seven months. However, it managed to place higher than some of the more experienced teams. By the time T.S.D.C. completed their final performance, they had more fans than when they first arrived.
The competition was not the only highlight of the week. The twenty-six young people also had the opportunity to attend informative sessions at the United Youth Congress. At the Congress, Seventh-Day Adventist (S.D.A.) young people discussed various contemporary issues affecting themselves, their churches, and society as well.
Brooklyn's Top Secret would like to thank all of our sponsors including Vic Firth, Inc., the Maranatha, Ebenezer, French Gethsemane, Berean, Brooklyn, and DunamisS.D.A.Churches, and the G.N.Y.C. Youth Department. The Corps would also like to thank all the parents and church members who supported us financially to make the trip. With your continued support and prayers we hope to take first place at the 2007 “Just Claim It” World Youth Prayer Conference in Dallas, Texas.
