Master Guide Grading System
As it has been announced and also posted in this web site, the Master Guide, PLA, and PIA Advisory has approved the Grading System for all Greater New York Conference Master Guide Classes. The grading system is simple, it has been explained to each Master Guide Instructor, and it is designed to help the candidates. The grading system is implemented as follows:
The Maximum Grade a Master Guide Candidate can receive is 100%.The minimum, Passing Grade, in order to be invested is 70%.
Class Attendance is worth 30% of the Final Grade. No one will be allowed to get invested with an attendance lower than 85%.
The Binder is worth 30% of the Final Grade. The binder is graded on two different categories.
Content is worth 25% of the Binder: Points are deducted for each item, described in the Master Guide Binder Index, that is missing from the Binder. The candidates can present the thickest binder in the world, if the material in the Binder is not the material requested in the Master Guide Binder Index, the candidate will not receive the points.
Presentation is worth 5% of the Binder: The Binder must be clean, neat, identify its author well, it must be put together in the order requested in the Master Guide Index Binder, and it must also have a good looking cover page.
Final Exam is worth 40% of the Final Grade. A candidate who has done perfect in Class Attendance (30%) and the Binder (30%) can easily get a passing grade (70%) for the class, by scoring a 10% in the Final Exam.
There are other Greater New York Conference Adventist Youth Ministries Department requirements, voted by the Master Guide, PLA, PIA Advisory. These requirements do not add points to the Final Grade of the candidate; nevertheless, they must be met prior to Investiture. If these requirements are not met, the candidate will not be invested. The requirements are:
-
Candidate must participate in Ceremony of Dedication, conducted by the Adventist Youth Ministries Department.
-
Candidate must take both, not just one, but both, the standardized Adventurer (ABST) and the standardized Pathfinder (PBST) Basic Staff Trainings offered by the Adventist Youth Ministries Department each year.
-
Candidate must participate in a weekend Wilderness Camping Trip, provided by his/her class.
