CAMPBERKSHIRE APPOINTS NEW MANAGER
AND ANNOUNCES DEVELOPMENT PLANS
The Greater New York Conference is pleased to announce the appointment of a new management team for CampBerkshire. On January 24 the Executive Committee voted to ask Hector Perez to become the CampManager. The Camp Berkshire Operating Committee had previously voted to invite Walter Harris to be the Associate Manager and Jesus Garcia to be the Assistant Manager.
Hector Perez is no stranger to CampBerkshire since he lived at the camp for several years and also worked at Berkshire from the spring of 2001 until 2004 when he received a call from the Southeastern California Conference to be the Assistant Manager of Pine Springs Ranch. We are happy he has returned to CampBerkshire to lead in the re-development of the camp.
Walter Harris has many years of experience in the construction industry including working as an inspector for various governmental agencies. Most recently he has operated his own home improvement and construction management company. Walter has been very active in his local church and conference youth ministries. He has served as Pathfinder director and assisted in conference camporees. He has also participated and led out in construction projects on several overseas mission trips as well as Katrina relief trips.
Jesus Garcia has seventeen years experience in construction and maintenance. He also earned a degree in Civil Engineering in the Dominican Republic. He has worked at CampBerkshire assisting in maintenance and construction since 2005. Prior to working at Berkshire he worked as a contractor and/or supervisor on various construction projects of homes, urban development and infrastructure, and public facilities.
We believe this new team will lead in the re-development of CampBerkshire as it becomes one of the great camps in the North American Division.
We are also pleased to announce that the Greater New York Conference has allocated $5.8 million for CampBerkshire development. Planning steps that have already been taken are professional evaluation of all current buildings, upgrading of the electrical system and beginning steps of developing a master plan.
