6. Mission Trips Report and Updates: Our Department already had its first Mission Trip this year to Jamaica. A group of young adults, a teen, and adults worked very hard, repairing and painting the Spanish Town Infirmary. We also donated sheets, other hygiene items, undergarments, and in combination with the Central Jamaica Conference Youth Department donated furniture so the residents can sit and enjoy the view. On our last day at the Infirmary, we had a good dinner for the residents, which included All You Can Eat Jamaican Patties, among other things. During our time there, the TV station RJR came and took video of us working and interviewed me, this aired on that Friday on National TV, on the 7 PM News. We were also visited by the Major, Counselors, and other governmental dignitaries during the Trip. Walter Harris and Teddy Williamson did a very good job at leading this Trip in the different areas; including our sightseeing tour to Ocho Rios and Dunn’s RiverFalls. We climbed the falls all the way to the top, it was beautiful. Our next Greater New York Conference Adventist Youth Ministries Department Mission Trip to Jamaica will take place next year, during Spring Break. We established a Partnership with the Youth Department of the Central Jamaica Conference, in which we have agreed to go back and continue to work with them for the next 3-4 years.

Mexico Mission Trip: It seems that almost 100 people will be traveling on the Mission Trip to Mexico this year. All of the information will be posted briefly on the website. If you are planning to come on the trip or your church is planning to sponsor someone for this trip, you must act quickly and sign up, very soon.

A Mission Trip can change the lives of Teens and Young Adults in your church. If you have Teens or Young Adults who are interested in going, you must contact us and make arrangements. The AY Leaders of each church have received flyers and registration brochures to sign up for this trip. The objectives are: continuing the church construction in Region 104, Cancun, a very poor area of the city; VacationBibleSchool at Region 104, Cancun. We will also have a special VacationBibleSchool in an area which is un-entered by the AdventistChurch. It is MayanVillage, where its inhabitants are Mayan Indians, some of them do not even speak Spanish, they speak Mayan.

The cost for Students is $850.00 and for Professionals is $900.00. It covers airfare, ground transportation, hotel, meals, t-shirt, and mission fee to buy materials for church building project. Everything is included, with the exception of sightseeing and souvenirs.

Philippines Mission Trip: This year, we will inaugurate a church which was started by our Missionaries during our first trip to Philippines last year, in Mindoro. The info for the trip will also be posted in the website and the dates have already been announced in the Adventist Youth Ministries Calendar and Conference Calendar. The cost of this trip, which will take missionaries half way around the world, is $1,700.00. In the meantime, for more information you can contact Kim Ayque, (516) 804-8902 or nabuang@gmail.com.

Local Churches are also doing Mission Trips: The JacksonHeightsChurch, the NorthBronxChurch, and the SpanishDelanceyChurch will be doing mission trips this year, as well. These are local church Mission Trips, which we will post on our website, under the News Section in the Upcoming days. It’s my personal desire to see many local mission trips, outside of the country, but also in the community where the church and its members are located.
