1. Pastor Jose’s Cell Phone: For the Adventurer Camporee Baptism, I inadvertently got in the water with my cell phone and it was baptized; just like baptism it went down in the water and died, unlike baptism when it came out of the water it did not have a new life. The telephone insurance covers it; however, Sprint takes a few days to send the new replacement telephone.
2. Communicating with the Office: When calling, keep in mind that our department is very active and busy, about 65% of all the calls that come into the Conference are for the Adventist Youth Ministries Department, plus faxes, mobile calls, regular mail, and E-mails.

As a member of numerous committees at our Conference I spend a great amount of time in different meetings, and lots of hours in appointments with youth, young adults, youth leaders, parents, and colleague pastors who come to the office to see us. In order to reduce your waiting time and serve you better, please E-mail us or give us a call to set the appointment, this would make it much easier and comfortable.

3. Adventist Film “Between Father and Son” (Tomorrow, Sabbath, June 7 @ Old Westbury Seventh-day Adventist Church): The film will be shown at 7:00 PM, at the Old Westbury Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 211 Jericho Turnpike, Old Westbury NY, 11568-1612.
The Greater New York Conference Media and TV Ministry and the Adventist Youth Ministries Department have teamed up with Adventist Film Maker Clarence Mc Call to produce this Adventist Film. Youth and Adults are both welcomed; the film has been created with both age groups in mind. “A Father struggles to keep his Seventeen year old son in the church. Letting them walk away is not an option...”
4. Bible Bowl Playoffs (this Sabbath, June 7 @ North Bronx Seventh-Day Adventist Church): The Playoffs will begin at 4:00 PM. We are asking the participating teams to plan arriving at North Bronx by 3:00 PM, this way we’ll start the games on a timely manner. The North Bronx Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at: 3743 Bronxwood Avenue, Bronx NY 10467. Teams arriving late run the risk of being disqualified. If you need specific info regarding Bible Bowl, feel free to contact Bible Bowl Coordinator Tamika Goburn: tgoburn@hotmail.com.
5. Adventist Youth Fun Day (Sunday, June 22 @ Six Flags Water Park): We are expecting to have the tickets at the office by late next week. The price per ticket for the water park is $22.00. Free Entrance for kids under 3
Our second Adventist Youth Fun Day of the year will take place at Six Flags’ Theme Park and Safari, on August 10. To get tickets, please call the Adventist Youth Ministries Department. The price for the tickets is $29.50 per person. Free Entrance for kids under 3
Both of these outings are for anyone who would like to attend, young adults, collegiate, teens, Pathfinders, Adventurers, adults, visitors, anyone who would like to go. Don’t forget to wear a Christian t-shirt, a GNYC Youth Ministries Shirt, something that allows people to know that there are thousands of Adventist young people who love and obey God.

*If you are not able to participate on the schedule days, you can purchase the tickets and go on any other Sunday or weekday, tickets are valid for the entire season. If you check the prices at the park and the prices of the tickets at the Adventist Youth Ministries Department, you could even use them for Fundraising.

6. English Youth and Young Adult Campmeeting (Sabbaths, June 28 & July 5 @ Camp Berkshire): Summer Campmeetings and Camp Season are here. Our Adventist Youth Ministries Department is preparing an excellent program to minister to Teens and Young Adults from 14 to 35 years of age. Of course year after year we welcome many adults who enjoy and appreciate worshipping with the young people. We have a huge tent with full capacity for 3,000 people.
The Bible Bowl Finals will take place, this Sabbath, June 28, during the afternoon program. The Bible Bowl Winners from all Conference areas will face off to select the teams that will represent Greater New York Conference at the BAYDA National Bible Bowl Finals. On this day, we will show the Clarence McCall Film, “Between Father and Son” during the afternoon, at the Adult Auditorium. This film will be shown for Adults and Young People.
For the Second Sabbath (July 5) we are planning a baptism at the pool. A huge Youth Choir Festival will also take place on this day. The festival will commence at 4 PM and will feature some of the best Youth Choirs from across Greater New York Conference. Your Youth Choir can be a part of this GREAT celebration. To register your Youth Choir please send an email to
gnycyouth@aol.comand put “Choir Fest” in the subject line. Included the name of your choir, the name of your church and the song/s (no more than two) you intend to sing.
7. Mission Trip to Philippines (July 27 to August 5): We went to the Island of Mindoro in Philippines last year. Through last year’s trip, thousands of people were touched through Medical and Dental Services, Health Talks, Food Distribution to the 100 poorest families in each town visited, among other projects. A church construction project was begun last year and it is about to be completed this year. If you are ready and willing to go to the Philippines this year, please contact the Adventist Youth Ministries Department. All contact information is below.
The cost for this Mission Trip is $1,990.00
8. Mission Trip to Mexico (July 28 to August 5): Between 80 to 100 young adults, teens, and adults will be going in this Mission Trip. There is still room, but not too much room available. If you are planning to come on the trip or your church is planning to sponsor someone for this trip, you must act quickly and sign up, very soon. The cost for students is $850.00 and for adults/professionals is $900.00.
A Mission Trip can change the lives of Teens and Young Adults in your church. If you have Teens or Young Adults who are interested in going, you must contact us and make arrangements. The AY Leaders of each church have received flyers and registration brochures to sign up for this trip. The objectives are: church construction in Region 104, Cancun, a very poor area of the city; Vacation Bible School at Region 104, Cancun; as well as a Vacation Bible School in an area where the Adventist Church has not yet entered, a village of Mayan Indians. Our purpose is to plant a Seventh-day Adventist Church in the village.
It covers airfare, ground transportation, hotel, meals, t-shirt, and mission fee to buy materials for church building project. Everything is included, with the exception of sightseeing and souvenirs.
