Stefani Black’s Update #2

Dear Family,

On last Thursday evening Stefani was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. Although this diagnosis has been suggested in the past we were hoping that this would not be the case. Nonetheless, we are told that lymphoma is a curable cancer.

She received the first round of chemotherapy on Saturday night. We were not extremely pleased with this option, but given her condition the doctors felt this was the best option for now. She is also receiving natural treatments. Due to the kidney challenges her potassium level was climbing dangerously high, so to reduce the risk of cardiac arrest she had to be placed on dialysis. After 3 days of dialysis her levels are back to normal. Today she will not have dialysis with the hope that her kidneys will go back to normal function.

Her vital signs are all normal now and the doctors are feeling very optimistic about her prognosis. We are still waiting on a few test results from another bone biopsy and blood work that were taken over the weekend to determine the type of lymphoma (they anticipate non Hodgkin’s) and the stage. Hopefully we can go home soon!

Still Praising God!!!

We want to share two situations with you:

First, on Friday morning the Doctor came in to explain to Stefani that she may need Chemo Therapy and Dialysis. Stefani said “Don’t worry Doc, it’s gonna be ok, you don’t know the God I serve! He’s gonna deliver me! I’m just trusting and obeying and standing on His promises!”.

On Saturday, when the Oncologist came in to explain the treatment options (just before the bone biopsy), we had to absorb quite a bit of information in a short time. We he finished, he said to Stefani “You will be ok” Stefani responded to him “…will God get the glory?” The doc said “no, you will get the glory”. Big mistake! Stefani sat up in the bed and pointed her finger and with tears running down her face shouted “ No, God must always get the glory”. The doctor was stunned, speechless, embarrassed , etc. She then asked him if he was a Christian, he said “no, I am a Jew” Stefani responded, “What does that mean? Do you believe in God?” The doc said “yes”. Stefani said “then God gets the glory!!!”. “I get the healing and God gets the glory”. The doc said he understands now. The other doctor doing the procedure thought she would try to fix it and said, “well Stefani, God is love and we have people working here of all religions etc. Stefani responded, “I am not
talking about religions, I am talking about God, do you understand that?” The doc said “yes” and Stef asked her, “Does God get all the glory?” The doc said “Yes, God gets all the glory”. Then Stefani said, “You may now begin the bone biopsy”.

Everyone that visits Stefani leaves with tears in their eyes, not because she is battling this illness, but because of her incredible faith and ability to minister to others in her current state.

We only share this, because we want everyone to know how God is using her to get us through. She has been the perfect minister to everyone. I (James) did step out of the room to make certain that the Jewish doctor was ok. He looked at me and said “ I have never experienced anything like that before, that is incredible faith and I will make certain that God gets the glory from now on”.

If you would like to send Stefani a prayer or email an encouraging word, she requests that you contact her through our new social network at www.adventistyouthspace.com . Once you sign up, just type in her name and click on her profile, then type comment. She reads all of her emails. Also, we will post all future updates about her condition on her webpage.

Thank you everybody!!! We know God is able as we continue to Trust and Obey while still Standing on the Promises.

Blessings,

The Black Family
