-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Conference-wide Week of Youth Evangelism, Youth Day, and Youth Baptism (March 21-28, 2009 @ Each Local Church): We have received many reports from our churches in Greater New York, where the Youth and Young Adult Evangelism and/or Week of Prayer are going really well. Wonderful attendance, creative programs, great messages by the young people, and of course, decision for Jesus. Tomorrow, Sabbath, March 28, is designated in our Official Conference Calendar, as Youth Baptism Day. I’m glad that many of our churches will be baptizing Youth and Young Adults tomorrow. We would like to ask the Pastors and youth leaders to take action pictures of these baptisms, so we can post them on our website. If you have videos of the baptism or the week, please submit them to our office, we will put them on YouTube, http://www.youtube.com/user/gnycyouth.
If your church did not plan the Week of Youth Evangelism yet, it is not too late; we would like to encourage each church to participate in Youth Evangelism, even if it is done at another date.
2. Jamaica Mission Trip, Last Day for REGISTRATION (April 5-11, 2009): Today is the last day for Registrations for this Trip. If you are planning to go on this trip, you must make contact with us today, since the trip will be taking place in a few days.
This trip is for Young Adults, College University Students, and of course we will not turn down a teen or an adult wanting to go. The Mission is open for Missionaries wanting to make a difference for the Lord outside of our US boundaries. We will work in partnership with the Central Jamaica Conference Youth Department in the Infirmary and the communities of Spanish Town.
The cost of the Trip is $1285.00 and includes: Airfare, Food, Lodging, local transportation, T-shirt, bottled water, and a donation towards the mission projects we will work on while there. Sightseeing trips, tours, and souvenirs, will be optional and will have an extra cost.
If there is someone who wishes to contribute to this trip with funds, Tax Deductible Donations are welcomed and needed. They will go directly and exactly to our mission projects. If you find people who are able to donate $1,000.00, $500.00, etc. The funds will be used to alleviate the needs of a deprived community in Spanish Town, Jamaica.
If you would like to participate in this trip, send the Registration Form with the down-payment for the trip to our Office. The AY Leader of each church has received the Registration Forms for all the Mission Trips as well as the flyers. You can also download the Registration Form and the Flyer at our website, the following link: http://gnycyouth.com/article/articleview/741/1/138.

3. Youth Awareness Weekend/Teens Sexuality Awareness Weekend (April 17-19 @ the Stamford Hilton):
The Registration Form can be found on the website, http://gnycyouth.com/article/articleview/823/1/138. They were also mailed with all of the information and flyers to each AY Leader at each Church. We have already received many registrations in our office. You must make Hotel Reservations, directly with the Stamford Hilton. It must be clear, the registration is done through our office, and the hotel reservation is done directly with the hotel.
This program takes a comprehensive approach to the issues of adolescents (12-17 year olds) and is presented over the period of a weekend by Adventist physicians, counselors, pastors and individuals with expertise in the area of psychology and counseling. Doctor Herbert Goulding, a Greater New York Conference Physician and Author of this Ministry will lead the team of very qualified physicians during the weekend. They have dedicated their time and effort to help young people understand and prepare for life in a way that would increase the possibilities of a favorable outcome, thus decreasing the opportunities for regrets and poor outcomes.
The program has been developed to address the unaddressed needs of young people, with regards to the multiple aspects of their sexuality, taking a holistic and an unconventional approach. A shorter version of this program is available for church especially at AY time, and non-retreat events.
We have chosen a high quality hotel, the Stamford Hilton, in Stamford Connecticut, because we believe that our TEENS need to be treated like royalty. On Saturday night and Sunday, there will be time for the indoor heated swimming pool and the exercise room.
The limit for this event is 100, only the first 100 registered will be able to attend. We would like to have all of the time necessary to interact and to work directly with the teens during the weekend. There will not be Sabbath ONLY Registrations, we would like those attending this event to attend the entire weekend. Each church group coming needs to bring a chaperone per room.
We have prepared a special section for chaperones, leaders, and parents, because as adults we too, need help in dealing with these issues. There will be workshops for the leaders and parents who come to accompany the teens during the weekend. For this special task we have invited Dr. Lois King, who will be leading the workshops with the leaders, chaperones, and parents.
The Costs for the weekend are:
Hotel Reservation (Reserve directly with the Hotel): $105.00 (for up to four people per room, which will be about $27 per person)
Early Registration (till March 26): $109.00 per person (include 5 meals, programming)
Regular registration (after March 26): $129.00 per person (include 5 meals, programming)
The total price for someone taking advantage of the early registration and staying in a room of 4 people would be about $163.00. Remember, the Hotel Reservation must be done directly with the Hotel. The event Registration will be done through our office and is already open.

4. Collegiate Summit: Preparation are also been made for this program especially prepared for College and University Students in the Greater New York area public campuses. Information will be posted very soon.
5. Registration & Transport for International Camporee in Oshkosh, Wisconsin: We have a good group of Pathfinder Clubs which have registered for the International Camporee in Oshkosh, this summer.
Reminders
(1) If you have not registered yet, it’s time to rush, registration will be close in the next few days or as soon as they get to 34,000; (2) when you register, you must make sure that you must remember that your Conference is Greater New York, the space for camping that they give us is relative to the amount of people whom have register, seeing the list I see that some of our clubs are registered under New York Conference; (3) We, as a Conference will be hosting about 100 international Pathfinders and leaders from Fiji, South Pacific, Central Jamaica, Haiti, & Dominican, Inter-America. When a Club decides to host an international Pathfinder, this makes the club responsible for lodging and food. It can be a beautiful and rich experience for our kids and teens to be able to spend time and get to know people from other parts of the world. Let us know how many International Pathfinders and Master Guides your club would like to host. Please call our Office or send us an E-mail.
Transportation
We have found another Bus Company that seems to be offering the best prices around to transport our clubs from here to Oshkosh and back. The rates are: $10,000.00 for a 47 Passenger Bus with all the amenities and $10,500.00 for a 55 Passenger Bus. I spoke with Jeff, he mentioned to me that if the group wanted, he could make a stop in Michigan so the young people can pass by and take a look at Andrews University or some of our historic landmarks there. He has about 12 more buses available. If you wish to get in touch with him, please do it ASAP. Last time when I sent the E-mail with transport info, all of the busses were booked within 30 minutes. The phone # for Jeff is (804) 475-4330. If you know of better rates, please send me an E-mail, and I will let everyone know quickly.
6. Bible Bowl Registration Deadline Extended to March 31: We are extending the Bible Bowl Registration Deadline to this upcoming Tuesday, March 31. We will not be accepting Registration beyond this deadline. The first Bible Bowl Area Games will take place on April 18 for the Areas of Brooklyn and Staten Island. More information will be posted on the website shortly. You can access the Registration Form and other info online: http://gnycyouth.com/article/view/29/1/16/14/16/.
7. Pastor Jose’s Report & Schedule: In any given weekend we have anywhere from three to eight different programs, trainings, activities, or other items in Youth Ministries in Greater New York; this does not include the countless programs taking place at many of our local churches. This is why you see us in some places and at the same time you see our Adventist Youth, Pathfinder Coordinators, and my Secretary Veronica Chaug, in other places; this way we cover the entire territory. We have grown so much that it is virtually impossible for one or two people to be at every Youth & Young Adult Ministries events in our Conference. I would like to thank our AY, Pathfinder Coordinators, and Veronica for being part of this awesome team that is able to do so much for God, our young people, and the Greater New York Conference.
Upstate New York
Just two weeks ago, the AY & Pathfinder Coordinators finished the awesome task, of visiting each church in Upstate New York; they took the Traveling Bible through each single church Upstate. Now we are doing the same thing in Long Island, with the Long Island AY & Pathfinder Coordinators, and we will continue through the entire Conference.
Ray Hospedales
Last Friday, as we were driving to Kinderhook, we received a call from Elsie Juarez, telling us that Ray Hospedales was in the Hospital. Though we were far away, I got in touch with Angel Reyes and Teddy Williamson who right away sent notice out to all AY and Pathfinder Coordinators. I met with Ray yesterday for a few minutes and he is doing much better, out of the Hospital, and was very grateful for the visits and love shown by many of our leaders and young people. We are grateful Ray is doing great.
Skating Day
Last Sunday we had around 1,200 attend the Ice Skating Day, as we were returning from Kinderhook, in Upstate New York, where we ministered last weekend; we received a call from the Skating Rink to thank us for the organization and beautiful behavior of the participants. I would like to thank our leadership team there for an awesome experience. That proves that we Adventist are an example everywhere we go, not only in church.
Pastor Jose’s Schedule
This Sabbath our family we’ll be in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to close the week of Youth Evangelism there in the morning. In the afternoon, we’ll be in Spanish Bayshore, where I will participate in the Ordination Service for Pastor Marco Molina. Next week I’ll be in the office on Monday and Tuesday, and then we’ll be off to Camp Berkshire, where we will be meeting with the Camp Management Team and the Development Team, as we finalize the Master Plan for the Camp. Next Sabbath we’ll be at Huntington Spanish Church, and on Sunday I leave to Jamaica with our Mission Trip group.
Needless is to say how much we thank you for your Prayers and Support. Your calls, e-mails, notes, comments on the website, Facebook, My Space, and visits in the office are always valued and highly appreciated. Let’s keep on doing our part for God in Greater New York.
