1. Taste of Life ‘09: is back for a fifth consecutive year. Our annual multi-church, multi-conference event at the East Meadow, near 5th Avenue & E 97th Street, Central Park is coming up on Sunday, September 13, from 8 AM - 5 PM. It's our way of inviting the Tri-state area out for a relaxing day of free food, live music, and activities, where people can connect with each other, and celebrate life. We're also featuring interactive booths with information about Adventist beliefs and our lifestyle. Taste of Life '09 is a great opportunity to introduce your friends and colleagues to the Adventist community in a safe, non-threatening context. You don’t have to be from Manhattan in order to come and participate, everyone is invited. Our feature group for Taste of Life ’09 is The King’s Heralds. We will also have Pathfinders Drilling & Marching Exhibitions, and Drum Corps Demonstrations.

For this event to work and fulfill its purpose you must come and bring non-Christian friends, family members, co-workers, and neighbors; the purpose is to introduce them to Jesus and to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in very friendly environment.

Our Department of Adventist Youth Ministries here in Greater New York has partnered with a group of Young Adults, University Students, and Young Professionals in New York City in an effort to share Jesus in Manhattan. This initiative is the result of the hard work and commitment of this group of creative young adults; let’s take advantage of this Evangelistic opportunity to share Jesus with our neighbors, friends, and co-workers. This event is sponsored by the Greater New York Conference, our Adventist Youth Ministries Department, Adventist Community Services, and the Northeastern Conference.

This year, a Marathon/Walkathon has been added to the schedule of the event. The Marathon/Walkathon will begin at 8:00 AM. The Taste of Life program will kick off at 11:00 AM. Runners, walkers, and families are invited to participate in this Marathon/Walkathon. Registration is required for participants.

All of the information will be available at our website: www.gnycyouth.com. You can also go to the Taste of Life website www.tasteoflife.org for more info.

2. Greater New York Conference Marathon/Walkathon (Taste of Life 5 K Run/Walk): will precede the Taste of Life program on Sunday, September 13, at 8:00 AM at Central Park. Once again, an excellent opportunity to share a great time with the members of all the churches from Manhattan, New York City, and its surroundings, as well as your friends, colleagues, and family who don’t know Jesus yet. This is also a way to show our city the hope and healthy lifestyle of Seventh-day Adventists.

There will be different categories for those who would like to run or walk, as well as different age, and gender categories. There is also a category for families who would like to walk together in a non-competitive manner. Pre-Registration, prior to the event and Check-In, at the event, are required for those participating.

The Registration Fee is $10.00; it includes a shirt, number, and a medal for all participants. The winners in each category will also receive the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals. The Registration deadline is Wednesday, September 9, 2009. The categories are the following:

Male/Female
1. Juniors (10-12 years old)
2. Teens (13-17 years old)
3. Young Adults (18-35 years old)
4. Adults (36-55 years old)
5. Experienced Athletes (56+ years old)
6. Family (families walking together for exercise/non-competitive)

In order to participate in the Taste of Life 5 K, you or your group must Pre-Register (fill out Registration Form, and Medical Release Form; Minors, under 18, must also fill out a Parental Permission Form). On Sunday, September 13, the day of the race, all participants must check in at 8:00 AM, with our Check-In Table, at the Park (at the East Meadow, near 5th Avenue & E 97th Street). Check in will close at 8:45 AM. The race will begin at 9:15 AM Sharp.

All of the forms and info required for the participants in the Marathon/Walkathon/Taste of Life 5 K and updates will be available at our website: www.gnycyouth.com.

3. Fun Day at Dorney Park (this Sunday, 100 tickets left only): There are only 100 tickets left for this Sunday’s Fun Day; Veronica will be at the office, Saturday night, after sundown, for a little time, to make sure that if you need your ticket you are able to get it. First come, first served basis. If your church is not able to go this Sunday, and would like to do the Fun Day at another time, there are tickets you can use at any time as well.

4. Pastor Jose’s Schedule: I am in New Jersey to spend my B-day with Joanne, Jose III, Joel and my parents. Sabbath, we’ll be at the Youth Evangelism Series in Brooklyn, this series has taken place at the parking lot of the Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church. Spoke with Abraham Henry, who is one of the speakers, and he reported several baptisms already. On Sunday, we will be at the wedding of two of our young adults in Greater New York (Suni & Sandy are getting married, Congrats Guys!!!). On Monday, I will be speaking for the Student Orientation at the Greater New York Academy. Just attended the Board of Trustees meeting at the Greater New York Academy this week, the freshman class enrolment is the highest in years. Congratulations GNYA.
