HAITI needs our Help from Pastor Jose
1/14/10
As the aftermath of the fatal earthquake in Haiti continues to develop, the Department of Adventist Youth Ministries of the Greater New York Conference is working in a supporting and active role alongside the Adventist Community Services Department of our Conference. Our Conference will be holding a Day of Prayer for Haiti, this Sabbath, January 16, 2010. A special offering for Haiti will also be collected this Sabbath, January 16.
We have set a goal to collect $100,000.00 which will go directly to the immediate relief of our brothers and sisters in Haiti. I would like to encourage each youth, young adult, Pathfinder, Adventurer, and Master Guide in the Greater New York Conference to come to church with some money in hand, for Haiti, this Sabbath.

Report 5 – TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS RESPONDERS TO HAITI
We are sending a team of five trained AYES Corps members and Pastors to PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti this weekend to establish communications and assist in enabling the Church to function there for the relief effort. They will be there for two weeks, equipped with special satellite communication systems.
Please keep them in your prayers.

Report 4 – PASSING OF PASTOR GERMAIN JOSEPH
Pastor Germain Joseph, former publishing director of the Haitian Union Mission was killed in Tuesday’s earthquake.
Please keep his family in your prayers.

An Emergency Command Center has been setup at Fr. Gethsemane SDA Church in order to establish communication and relief efforts between families in New York and Haiti.

Report 2 - COLLECTION CENTERS IN GNYC
The Greater New York Conference, Adventist Community Services Department would like to ask for every GNYC SDA Church to establish Collection Centers. Please notify us by sending an email to
acsnydirector@hotmail.comto the ACS office as soon as possible, providing us with days, times and location so that we can forward the information to TV stations in the city and other agencies.
Please DO NOT receive any used clothes. Medical supplies, canned goods, and non perishable food need to be classified and sorted in boxes. Each box needs to be labeled according to its content and given a value.

Report 1 - AID TO HAITI $100,000.00
Please collect a special offering for Haiti this Sabbath, January 16, 2010 in all of our churches in GNYC. We ask that this collection may be extended for next few Sabbaths in order to meet our goal.
The goal is to collect $100,000.00 dollars throughout our conference. Making donations of money for the moment is the best quick response allowing us to buy the supplies and equipment that address the most urgent needs. There is no infrastructure at the moment in Haiti to take anything physical and deliver it where is needed.
If you can, please contribute by sending all checks or any monetary donations to the conference office marked payable to Greater New York Conference and on the memo Aid for Haiti as soon as possible. If you already donated, please share this email with a friend. Your donation will help provide immediate relief and long-term support to the victims.
