Greetings!
During 2009 our Department of Adventist Youth Ministries together with our Pathfinders Coordinators Advisory and in partnership with our Education Department worked on a few initiatives to introduce our kids, youth, and parents to Adventist Education and help our members be aware of some of the ministries provided by our Education Department. David Cadavero, Superintendent of Education for our Conference and myself have been in dialogue and working hard to make sure that these initiatives are implemented.
Some of these initiatives were:
1. To include a Workshop on Christian Education in the Curriculum for the Adventist Youth Leadership Certification. 2. To have a summit between School Principals, the AY & Pathfinder Coordinators of the Greater New York Conference to exchange opinions, feedback, and find optimum ways on how our schools can better serve, reach out, and minister to the thousands of kids and teens in Greater New York, who are not currently attending Adventist Schools. 3. To open up all youth and young adult events; each school is able to set up a booth, talk kids, teens, parents, and leaders, as well as promote Christian Education in its area. 4. To ask each one of our Clubs to attend an OPEN HOUSE in one of our schools in the Greater New York Conference.
As our Department partners with our Education Department and our Adventist Schools in Greater New York, I would like to request from youth and young adult leaders that we include our schools, principals, teachers, and Education Office in our prayers, as we work together with the Holy Spirit to save and disciple many kids and youth in the Greater New York Conference Territory.
Lots of Love & Blessings!!! |

Open House Program for Pathfinder Clubs, Adventurer Clubs, & Parents with Children
|
1. Open House Program for Pathfinder Clubs, Adventurer Clubs, & Parents with Children: One of the Initiatives was to promote that each Pathfinder and Adventurer Club in Greater New York would have a field trip and visit a school in our Conference.
The objectives of these visits are:
1. Kids and parents to be able to see the Adventist Schools, which offer Christian Education, in our Conference. 2. Bring awareness that our church schools are also there to minister to our kids in the church and its community. 3. Parents and kids to experience how our schools function, meet the teachers and the staff. 4. Provide an opportunity for parents and kids to ask questions and give feedback to schools administrators 5. Get our kids (present or potential students) and our schools in touch. 6. Provide the opportunity for clubs to volunteer in helping the school with a special project. 7. Make Christian Education available to our kids.
I would like to ask our local church Pathfinder and Adventurer leaders to work together with us, as we implement these new guidelines and work to get our clubs in touch with our school and our schools in touch with our kids. Of course, since the Pathfinder and Adventurer Clubs are on a Reporting/Points system, we are asking all of our clubs to report their school visit/field trip to Adventist School in Greater New York Conference in their monthly report, as soon as they attend their Open House at any of our Conference Schools.
